Dit zijn de winnaars van de Britse ‘2019 Landscape Institute Awards’
Het Britse Landscape Institute heeft haar Awards 2019 bekendgemaakt. Veel van de bekroonde projecten reiken concrete en innovatieve oplossingen aan voor de strijd tegen de klimaatopwarming en de achteruitgang van de biodiversiteit, en om de band tussen mens en natuur te versterken.
In totaal werden 180 projecten ingediend, waaronder 40 van buiten het Verenigd Koninkrijk. De bekroonde projecten geven een mooi beeld van hoe landschapsarchitecten vandaag nieuwe oplossingen bedenken voor een betere waterhuishouding en natuurlijke methoden voor de opvang van water, werken aan een betere luchtkwaliteit, de biodiversiteit herstellen en werken aan natuurherstel, inspelen op de nood aan meer groen in dichtbebouwde gebieden…
Gastspreker bij de officiële prijsuitreiking, Sir David Attenborough, die de Landscape Institute Medal ontving, benadrukte in zijn toespraak dat landschapsarchitecten een grote verantwoordelijkheid hebben om mensen wereldwijd opnieuw vertrouwd te maken met hun natuurlijke omgeving.”
